Services

  • Individual Music Therapy

These one-on-one sessions are tailored to the individual’s specific needs. We focus each session on what needs the most attention whether it be coping with stress, managing anxiety, processing big or complex emotions, developing self-awareness, strengthening emotional intelligence, or to simply have a soft place to land. I provide a low-stakes environment where it’s safe to explore, take creative risks, and make mistakes! We may do this through improvisation, songwriting, discussion, mindfulness practices, incorporation of art & music, play-based techniques, and more. When I work with clients one-on-one, I hold space for their process creatively and therapeutically.

  • Family-Based Music Therapy

The original system is the family system. It’s the building block of every system and is deeply important for a child’s internal process. Many times, it is most beneficial for a parent or caregiver to be included in the therapy process especially when it comes to skill-building and developing techniques for outside of the therapy space. Parents and caregivers do NOT have to have any musical experience! I partner with you to develop creative and affirming approaches to support your child’s specific needs and expand a parent or caregiver’s repertoire of parenting strategies. My goal is to focus on what is GREAT about your child and go from there!

  • Therapeutic Voice Lessons

I had a voice coach once tell me, “Where you live in your body, your voice lives in your body!” I find this to be so true. Therapeutic voice lessons are very similar to individual music therapy sessions. However, we have a greater emphasis on the body as the instrument and somatic approaches for vocal exploration and discovery as it pertains to clients’ well-being, mental health, and overall therapeutic process. We may work on specific musical pieces and/or creative texts and clients may also choose to write for their own voices.

  • Adaptive Lessons

There are so many benefits to learning an instrument! Likewise, there can be many barriers for diverse learners. I provide adapted lessons for piano and voice for all individuals regardless of physical, cognitive, or emotional abilities. Lessons are customized to the individual’s specific needs, strengths, and interests and are paced to match the student’s learning speed, with frequent breaks if needed. Each lesson allows for adjustments based on the individual’s mood, energy levels, and focus. Integration of music therapy techniques are used to address social emotional learning (SEL) goals. Emphasis is placed on building self-esteem, resilience, and self-expression through music. Collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other professionals (e.g. occupational therapists, speech therapists, etc.) is welcomed to ensure a holistic approach to this tailored musical experience.
